Sun-kissed strawberries, all season long? Yep, it’s possible with Ace’s Garden strawberry plants!  For 2024 we are featuring the Albion variety which is everbearing.

First year everbearing strawberry plants grown locally right here in Colorado Springs.

Why by locally grown strawberry plants? Plants grown in other climate zones have a lower success rate when hardening them to our unique Colorado weather.  Locally grown plants have a much higher success rate when transplanting.  Albion Everbearing Strawberry plants do great in pots growing indoors too.  Just place them in a southern facing window and enjoy an extra month of berry production.

  • Easy to grow, even for beginners. They thrive in containers, making them perfect for small spaces, and in the garden, too.

  • Disease resistant.

#1 Everbearing Albion Strawberry Plants

These Everbearing Strawberry Plants are the perfect addition to your garden.  For 2024 Ace’s Garden is featuring the Albion variety of strawberries that come in a #1 gallon trade sized container.

First year everbearing strawberry plants grown locally right here in Colorado Springs.  No herbicides or pesticides have been used, and plants are fully hardened and ready for outdoor transplant (when the weather permits).  These Albion strawberry plants are already producing a few berries each.  Pruning the flowers in the first year encourages more vegetative growth and results in even more strawberries during future seasons.  Most variety of strawberry plants see peak berry production in years two and three.
Albion Everbearing Strawberry plants do great in pots growing indoors too.  Just place them in a southern facing window and enjoy an extra month of berry production.
Here are pro tips to successful strawberry harvests, whether you are transplanting to your garden or growing in containers:

Tolerable Temperature Range:

  • 40-90°F (4-32°C): They can endure cooler or hotter temperatures within this range, although fruit production may slow down or temporarily pause.
  • 60-80°F (15-27°C): This sweet spot offers optimal growth and productivity, resulting in abundant harvests.

Tips for Temperature Management:

  • Hot climates: Provide afternoon shade or use row covers to protect plants during peak heat. Mulch the soil to retain moisture and keep roots cool.
  • Cold climates: Cover plants with frost blankets during late frosts to protect blossoms.

Watering Albion Strawberry Plants (Everbearing)

Providing consistent moisture during hot spells is crucial, as dry soil intensifies heat stress.  Adequate air circulation around the plants can help moderate temperatures and prevent fungal diseases.

Common Questions:

Why by locally grown strawberry plants? Plants grown in other climate zones have a lower success rate when hardening them to our unique Colorado weather.  Locally grown plants have a much higher success rate when transplanting.
What are everbearing strawberry plants? Everbearing strawberry plants produce medium sized strawberries throughout the season.  In contrast, June-bearing strawberry plants produce large berries, but typically only in the month of June as the name implies.
How do you care for strawberry plants? Plant in full sun, water deeply as needed, and fertilize in the fall.  It’s that simple.  These plants produce ‘runners’ that grow into new strawberry plants.  Trim those runners back to encourage more berry production, or let them grow to expand your strawberry patch.
Will the strawberries come back each year?  Yes, strawberries are a perennial plant, meaning they will come back each year.  However, berry production from strawberry plants varies with each year too.  It is best to replant strawberries when berry production begins to decline, typically after 5-6 years.

I bought 10 of these with a little apprehension after only seeing them advertised on social media. I’m glad I did. Ryan was very passionate about growing strawberries, and it showed when he was here volunteering to help me transplant on the same day I ordered them. The strawberries look great, and I am looking forward to photographing potential wildlife they attract, as well as enjoying a nice snack.
